Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related organization established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. The EU Policy and Programme Support Division in Brussels manages IOM's engagement with the European Union, supporting policy discussions, providing migration-related advice, and assisting IOM offices globally with EU-funded projects. This internship supports the Division's work.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration-related fields to support the EU Policy and Programme Support Division. The role will assist in building and maintaining IOM's relationship with EU institutions, enhancing policy discussions, and providing evidence-based advice on migration topics. The intern will contribute to the Division's functions, including policy advocacy, liaison, donor compliance, and supporting IOM Country and Regional Offices. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in international migration policy, programme support, and intergovernmental relations within the UN system.
Responsibilities
The intern will monitor EU migration policies and programmes, providing summaries of key developments. Responsibilities include conducting desk research and basic data analysis on migration trends, reviewing reports, and preparing analytical notes. The role involves supporting meeting preparation, drafting minutes, and tracking action points. The intern will assist in drafting initial versions of internal notes, briefings, and other written outputs, as well as proofreading and formatting documents. Additionally, the intern will support the creation of PowerPoint presentations and visual materials, and contribute to knowledge and information management by organizing documents and maintaining trackers. The intern will perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Requires initial exposure to EU institutions, policies, or international cooperation, particularly in migration. Experience with desk research, policy analysis, and drafting analytical notes is needed. Familiarity with supporting meetings, note-taking, drafting presentations, and basic data analysis is advantageous.

Strong analytical and research skills for synthesizing complex information. Proficient English drafting skills with attention to clarity and accuracy. Ability to handle basic data analysis and interpret trends. Organizational and information management skills for efficient document handling and task management.
