Job Purpose
This internship role within the Supply Chain department in Dakar, Senegal, supports the overall resource management functions in line with IOM policies and standards. The intern will gain practical experience by assisting with procurement processes, vendor management, and logistical support. The purpose is to provide a learning opportunity for students and recent graduates to develop skills in supply chain operations within an international humanitarian context, contributing to the efficient delivery of IOM's mission. The role is supervised by the Supply Chain Officer and contributes to the effective functioning of the Dakar Country Office.
Responsibilities
The Intern – Supply Chain will support procurement activities by consolidating and verifying requisition forms, assisting in tender document preparation, and gathering bids. They will monitor open requisitions, track timely delivery of goods and services, and coordinate with units for delivery confirmations. Responsibilities include reviewing vendor invoices, preparing payment requests, and maintaining procurement records. The intern will also participate in market surveys to identify new suppliers, assist in tracking contractual agreements, and support fleet operations and asset management tasks. Additionally, they will contribute to supply chain activities related to warehousing and transportation as directed.
Work Experience
Experience is required in using office software packages, including MS Word and Excel, with a demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheet functions and data analysis. Candidates should also have experience in delivering high-quality work within set timeframes, showcasing strong time management and prioritization skills, especially under tight deadlines.
