Intern - Protection Data Analysis

Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Thailand implements projects to address migration challenges and assist vulnerable migrants. The Protection and Border Governance Unit (PBGU) collaborates with partners to strengthen border management and safeguard migrant rights. This internship supports the PBGU's efforts in developing solutions and providing assistance to vulnerable populations.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration and protection. The role will support the implementation of protection activities within IOM Thailand, specifically within the Protection and Border Governance Unit. The intern will gain practical experience in data management, analysis, and reporting related to vulnerable migrants, contributing to informed decision-making and program development. This position offers exposure to international migration issues and IOM's operational work in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the implementation of protection activities under the supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant. Key duties include maintaining beneficiary profiles and needs assessments by collecting and filing vulnerability data in compliance with IOM Data Protection Principles. The intern will develop dashboards and analytical briefs for case management and decision-making, ensuring data anonymization. Responsibilities also involve assisting with surveys, data clearing, preparing monthly statistics on assistance, and tracking monitoring data. The role includes performing other assigned duties to support the project team.

Work Experience

Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting is required. Experience with counter-trafficking interventions or data management is considered an asset. Experience working or studying in a multicultural environment and demonstrating respect for diversity is also beneficial.

Skills

Mandatory skills include the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle data responsibly. Proven understanding of migration dynamics and migrant vulnerabilities is necessary. Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Publisher, SharePoint), is required.
