Job Purpose
This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration, gender, and disability issues. The intern will support the Gender and Diversity Coordination Unit (GDC) in mainstreaming disability and gender-responsive practices into IOM's operations and institutional processes. This involves providing strategic support, technical guidance, and capacity building to the IOM workforce. The role contributes to developing a more systematic approach to cross-cutting issues and fostering partnerships with relevant organizations to ensure participatory and sustainable approaches to migration challenges.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide program support by reviewing and disseminating good programming practices, assisting with roll-out of training tools, and coordinating responses to requests from various IOM offices. Responsibilities also include updating research on gender and disability in migration contexts. In communication and knowledge management, the intern will maintain the Unit's knowledge hub, support the Gender Focal Points network, and assist with ongoing disability initiatives and event coordination. Reporting duties involve supporting the coordination and review of organizational and UN system-wide policies and strategies on gender equality and disability inclusion, as well as internal institutional reporting processes.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in gender equality, diversity, and inclusion programming, or related topics such as protection and human rights. Experience with coordination and facilitating discussions is also necessary. Experience in coordinating global campaigns is considered desirable.
