Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a leading UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. It operates globally, collaborating with partners to save lives, protect migrants, and facilitate pathways for regular migration. The Migration Health Division (MHD) oversees global migration health services, with the Health Assessment Programme (HAP) providing medical services for migrants to facilitate resettlement, employment, education, and visa acquisition.
Job Purpose
This internship within the Migration Health Division's Health Assessment Programme (HAP) aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration health. The intern will support HAP programme work under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator and Migration Health Officer. The role involves assisting with knowledge management, tracking website information, compiling client feedback, supporting quality assurance initiatives, and contributing to proposal development. The internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in an international organization, understand IOM's work in migration health, and develop skills in coordination, administration, and communication.
Responsibilities
Support knowledge management by organizing content on SharePoint and internal platforms. Track and update outdated or inconsistent information on IOM Migration Health and Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) websites. Compile client feedback, survey inputs, and basic analytics for communication efforts. Assist in creating a master sheet for tracking online community feedback on MHACs. Support HAP quality assurance by reviewing assessment forms and coordinating virtual QA visits. Compile and summarize incident management status, focusing on administrative follow-up. Assist with proposal development tasks, such as gathering inputs for the Modular Tuberculosis (TB) proposal. Follow up with country and regional offices on information requests and track responses. Assist in tracking MHD programming communication priorities and cross-divisional requests. Provide general administrative and coordination support, including taking meeting notes and tracking action points.
Work Experience
Experience with office software packages (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) is required. Knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis is needed. Experience in health and migration issues, or working with health data, is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely, with skills in summarizing documents and editing reports, is desirable.
