Job Purpose
This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration-related fields. The intern will support the Country Office's project development, programme visibility, outreach, communication, and advocacy efforts. Key contributions include developing and implementing communication strategies to highlight IOM's programmes, impact, and partnerships, particularly in areas like migration governance and climate-induced mobility. The role also involves assisting in drafting project concept notes and proposals, producing high-quality communication materials, supporting media relations, and enhancing digital engagement to increase awareness of IOM's interventions and strengthen stakeholder involvement.
Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of the Country Office’s external communication and visibility strategy to enhance public awareness and stakeholder engagement. Assist in project development by contributing to concept notes, proposals, and donor visibility materials. Help prepare and implement communication and advocacy campaigns, including those for UN International Days. Produce information and communication materials such as factsheets, brochures, and audiovisual content, and draft success stories. Disseminate press releases, media briefs, and public information materials. Document field activities through high-quality multimedia content, ensuring ethical standards. Manage digital communication platforms, including social media and website updates. Support the organization of events and contribute to knowledge management and reporting efforts.
Work Experience
Previous experience or demonstrated interest in communication, media, journalism, project development, public information, visibility, or advocacy is desirable. Experience in content creation, social media management, graphic design, photography, or videography is advantageous. Experience in multicultural environments or with NGOs/UN agencies is a plus.
Skills
Familiarity with migration, development, or international cooperation issues is desirable. Skills include communication, project development, visibility, and advocacy. Proficiency in drafting concept notes, proposals, and donor materials. Strong writing, editing, analytical research, and reporting skills. Knowledge of digital communication tools and social media platforms. Graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and multimedia production skills are advantageous. Good organizational and coordination abilities are essential.
