Job Purpose
This internship role provides essential secretarial and administrative support to the Head of the Mental Health, Psychosocial Support, and Intercultural Communication Unit. The intern will contribute to the day-to-day management and overall functioning of the Unit, assisting with various administrative and technical tasks. The position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience within an international organization, specifically focusing on migration and MHPSS. The intern will support the Unit's efforts to improve access to MHPSS services for migrants in diverse settings, working within the UN system and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The intern will undertake administrative and organizational functions, including assisting with duty travel, conference documentation, and expense claims. Responsibilities also involve supporting the preparation of agendas for events, managing administrative necessities like purchases and budget monitoring, and organizing the Head of Unit's daily schedule. The role includes maintaining archives of MHPSS documents and liaising with journal editors for article submissions. Technically, the intern will assist in preparing presentations, training materials, and drafting public information documents, website articles, and reports. Research support for policies and papers, collating background information, and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.
Work Experience
Experience studying and/or working in mental health and psychosocial support within the context of migration is required. Prior experience or an internship with international or intergovernmental institutions (e.g., UN, EU) or national governments related to migration or administrative support is considered an advantage.
Skills
Key skills include the ability to liaise effectively with internal departments and external partners, excellent organization, analytical and creative thinking, high flexibility, and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), internet, and email are also essential.
