Job Purpose
The Project Assistant (Field Operations) supports the implementation of project activities within IOM Ecuador. This role is crucial for delivering comprehensive assistance to migrants, refugees, and host communities, aligning with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. The assistant will contribute to protection, integration, and durable solutions initiatives by providing administrative and logistical support, compiling data, and facilitating communication. The position plays a vital part in ensuring the effective execution of field operations, supporting sustainable, community-based interventions, and upholding the rights and dignity of all migrants in Ecuador through coordinated efforts with local stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Provide general and clerical assistance for project activities. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present project-related information and data. Assist in budget monitoring and updating financial information. Support administrative coordination for project implementation, liaising with internal units and external parties to process requests and follow up on actions. Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, and other documentation. Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Respond to general inquiries and maintain project files. Drive official IOM vehicles as required. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is necessary. Prior work in international humanitarian organizations or governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Internet. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of basic administrative and logistical procedures for field activities. Familiarity with information collection tools and providing guidance to migrants and communities. Understanding of the local context and humanitarian assistance principles. Knowledge of driver's regulations, basic vehicle maintenance, and radio communications.
