Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Damascus, Syria, requires a Supply Chain Associate to support procurement processes. Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Associate is responsible for supporting the procurement of goods and services essential for IOM's mission activities in Damascus, Syria. This involves assisting in the acquisition process, ensuring compliance with IOM regulations, and contributing to the effective execution of mission objectives. The role plays a crucial part in facilitating the operational needs of the mission by ensuring timely and efficient procurement, thereby supporting the development and implementation of proposed activities. The incumbent's efforts directly contribute to the successful delivery of IOM's mandate within the region.
Responsibilities
The Supply Chain Associate will manage procurement requests, liaising with the National Supply Chain Officer to consolidate needs and optimize purchasing. Responsibilities include implementing and monitoring procurement and logistics, handling tasks related to supply, contracting, fleet and asset management, and documentation. The role involves verifying purchase requisitions, accurately posting them into the IOM Syria Portal and ORACLE, and tracking purchase orders. The Associate will collect quotations, manage tenders, and ensure vendor compliance. They will also process payment requests, conduct vendor checks and market surveys, and maintain asset inventory records. Additional duties include coordinating office maintenance, managing vehicle logistics, and ensuring proper archiving of procurement documents.
Work Experience
Required experience includes effectively sourcing goods and services using specialized logistics and procurement knowledge, working with vendors in compliance with IOM procedures, and demonstrating integrity. Proficiency in SAP, ORACLE, MS Project, and common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is necessary.
Skills
Key skills include high computer literacy, ability to work with national and international institutions, report writing, excellent communication and negotiation, understanding of IOM procurement policies, and previous experience with UN agencies.
