Job Purpose
The Senior Project Assistant, under the supervision of the National Programme Officer (Migration Governance) and guidance from senior leadership, is responsible for the effective implementation and coordination of project activities. This role involves monitoring progress, analyzing challenges, and proposing adjustments to ensure project success within the evolving field context. The position contributes to IOM's mission by supporting migration governance initiatives and ensuring projects align with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate project implementation, monitoring activities, and analyzing challenges to adjust work plans as needed. Research, compile, and analyze information on migration developments, presenting findings to relevant parties. Oversee financial, administrative, and technical project aspects in compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops for internal and external stakeholders. Liaise and coordinate with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors. Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and narrative/financial reports, ensuring timely submission. Document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to SOPs, policies, and new project development. Travel within Iraq as required for program needs.
Work Experience
Experience in audiovisual productions, publishing, and design is required. Experience in Transitional Justice, law enforcement, community/international policing, and project management is necessary. Experience with IOM or other UN agencies, engaging with government representatives, police, civil society, and communities, and data management is advantageous.
Skills
High computer literacy, including proficiency in Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong teamwork, flexibility, tolerance, and professionalism are essential.
