Job Purpose
This Senior Project Assistant role operates under the Chief of Mission/DCoM in Iraq, with guidance from the Head of the Mobility Pathways and Inclusion Division and direct supervision from the National Programme Officer (Migration Governance). The position is accountable for a range of tasks related to project implementation and coordination within the migration governance framework. The role contributes to IOM's mission by supporting the effective delivery of migration-related projects and initiatives in Iraq, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Assistant will lead and coordinate project implementation, monitoring activities, and analyzing challenges to adjust work plans as needed. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing migration-related developments, managing project finances and administration in line with IOM policies and donor requirements, and planning/conducting capacity-building workshops. The role involves liaising with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors, and coordinating the preparation of reports and correspondence. Additionally, the assistant will identify best practices, contribute to SOPs and concept papers, and support new project development. Travel within Iraq may be required.
Work Experience
Experience is required in audiovisual productions, publishing, and design, as well as in Transitional Justice, law enforcement, community policing, and project management. Experience with IOM or other UN agencies is advantageous. Engaging with governmental representatives, police, civil society, and communities is highly desirable. Data management and information sharing experience is also a plus.
Skills
Proficiency in audiovisual software (Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office is essential. The role requires flexibility, tolerance, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, and strong teamwork and professionalism. Fluency in English, Arabic, and Kurdish is required.
