Job Purpose

This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Head of Clinic will oversee all aspects of the migration health assessment process, ensuring it meets the technical requirements of resettlement countries. This includes managing medical examinations, diagnostic procedures, vaccinations, and TB management. The position also involves coordinating with relevant stakeholders, maintaining facility standards, and ensuring the efficient and client-centered delivery of services. The role contributes to IOM's mission of promoting humane migration by ensuring the health and well-being of migrants and refugees undergoing assessment.

Responsibilities

The Head of Clinic will organize and supervise the MHAC's migration health assessment process, covering medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, treatment, referrals, and pre-departure procedures. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments for refugees and migrants, reviewing medical histories, and ensuring compliance with resettlement country guidelines. The role involves maintaining the MHAC's infrastructure and equipment to professional standards. Coordination of human resources, ensuring adequate staffing and qualifications, is crucial. The Head of Clinic will also manage client-centered procedures, implement quality improvement systems, and oversee data collection and reporting. Collaboration on public health interventions, supervision of clinical and non-clinical staff, and managing financial aspects, including budget preparation and oversight of procurement, are key duties. Maintaining data confidentiality and security is paramount.

Work Experience

Requires professional clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital or international clinic setting, with specific experience in Migration Health Assessments. Demonstrated progressive experience in health program management, project development, and report writing is essential. Proven ability to establish partnerships, knowledge of public health, and understanding of patient safety and infection control are necessary. Experience in migration health emergency response is an asset, as are specializations in pediatrics, pulmonology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, public health, or healthcare management.
