Job Purpose
This role serves as an Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) Case Manager, responsible for assessing individuals' eligibility and needs for AVR services. The position involves detailed case management, including data entry, interviews, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate safe and smooth returns. The Case Manager ensures individuals receive comprehensive support throughout the AVR process, from initial assessment to airport accompaniment, contributing to IOM's mission of providing services and advice to migrants and governments.
Responsibilities
The AVR Case Manager will conduct pre-screening assessments and interviews to determine eligibility for AVR services, gathering necessary information and explaining the process. Responsibilities include accurate data entry and tracking in MIMOSA, Kobo, and Excel systems. The role involves providing follow-up support, managing cases by coordinating with teams and stakeholders, and analyzing cases to identify specific needs and interventions. Liaising with translators, collaborating with other case managers, and coordinating with IOM offices in countries of origin for return arrangements are key duties. The Case Manager will also handle flight ticket purchases and provide airport support, ensuring all activities are documented according to IOM guidelines. Occasional travel to project implementation areas may be required.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of four years of experience working with vulnerable populations. Fluency in English is mandatory, with fluency in Spanish also required. Experience in case management within humanitarian settings, working with diverse populations, and coordinating with institutional and UN counterparts is advantageous. Strong analytical, writing, organizational, and planning skills are essential.
