The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cameroon is enhancing its Security Management System (SMS) to align with UNSMS and global frameworks. The mission faces increasing security risks, necessitating reinforced risk assessments, mitigation, and compliance monitoring. The Security team ensures safe and effective program delivery across Cameroon, requiring strengthened analytical and operational capacities.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to bolster IOM Cameroon's Security Management System by supporting security risk management, compliance monitoring, and staff preparedness. The role will assist in collecting and analyzing security information, updating security plans, and monitoring compliance with safety standards. It also involves supporting incident reporting, preparing awareness materials, and maintaining security documentation. The intern will contribute to ensuring the continuity of operations, strengthened oversight, and sustained compliance with security requirements, ultimately supporting safe, compliant, and effective program delivery across the mission.
Responsibilities
The Security Intern will support the strengthening of security risk management by assisting in collecting and analyzing security information, updating security plans, and participating in field risk assessments. Responsibilities include monitoring compliance with security measures and UNSMS standards, tracking corrective actions, and documenting safety observations. The intern will also support incident reporting and analysis, contributing to security situation reports and trend analysis. Additionally, the role involves assisting in organizing security briefings, preparing awareness materials, and developing learning resources for staff safety. Finally, the intern will contribute to maintaining security documentation, supporting the preparation of operational documents, and assisting with procurement needs for security equipment.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is explicitly required, but familiarity with humanitarian or UN systems is considered an advantage. The role emphasizes the ability to collect, analyze, and summarize information, work in sensitive contexts, and collaborate with diverse teams.
