Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. This role supports a project funded by the IOM Development Fund (IDF) aimed at preventing human trafficking and migrant smuggling in the Dominican Republic through technology and innovation. The position contributes to strengthening institutional capacities and evidence-based solutions.
Job Purpose
This role provides technical assistance for the collection, analysis, and strategic use of information on public programs and interventions related to migration, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling in the Dominican Republic. It supports the "La Ruta de la Vida" communication strategy by enhancing data on existing public responses. The purpose is to improve institutional coordination, identify programmatic gaps, align prevention efforts, and foster evidence-based innovative solutions, particularly by linking public data with academic and technological initiatives, including STEAM disciplines.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance for collecting, systematizing, validating, and strategically using information on public programs and interventions, especially those addressing irregular migration, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling. This includes operational support, institutional coordination, and technical guidance to public institutions for data entry and updates in the Public Programs and Interventions Bank (BPIP). Responsibilities also involve verifying data quality, consistency, and completeness, aligning programs with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and identifying information gaps. The role includes designing and facilitating training sessions, providing ongoing technical support, analyzing collected data to generate insights for the "La Ruta de la Vida" strategy, and developing analytical products. Additionally, it involves facilitating the use of generated information for innovation processes with STEAM students and contributing to the link between data, public policy, and innovation. Monitoring progress, preparing reports, and participating in coordination meetings are also key duties.
Work Experience
Proven experience in collecting, managing, and analyzing information within institutional contexts, preferably in the public sector. Experience in liaising with public institutions and inter-institutional coordination is necessary. Experience in preparing technical reports, systematizing information, and process monitoring is required. Prior experience in migration, development, public policy, or innovation projects is valued. Facilitation of workshops or training sessions is desirable.
