Job Purpose
The Field Security Associate will support the Field Security Officer in managing security operations in the assigned location. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of IOM personnel, premises, and assets. The associate will assist in maintaining effective relationships with security counterparts, collecting and disseminating security information, and supporting the implementation of security plans and protocols. The position contributes to the overall operational effectiveness and safety of IOM's mission in South Sudan by ensuring compliance with security measures and facilitating a secure working environment.
Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining effective working relationships with UNDSS, host government agencies, and local authorities for security information. Support the Field Security Officer in collecting, updating, and communicating security situation information. Aid in developing and implementing IOM's country-specific security plans, contingency plans, and Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor staff compliance with safety and security protocols and mandatory training. Conduct security surveys of IOM offices and support the management of the Country Office Warden system, including communication equipment. Assist in reporting security incidents and preparing security reports. Provide support in organizing and conducting security awareness training and orientation for new personnel. Maintain an orderly filing system for security-related documents and databases.
Work Experience
Desirable experience includes work in the humanitarian, public, private, or corporate sectors. Experience in security coordination and administrative support for an international organization is also desirable, as is experience with radio communications. Successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course is preferred.
Skills
Ability to collaborate with senior government security counterparts and relevant stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening and effective response.
