Senior DTM Associate
Organizational Context
IOM Malawi, in partnership with governments and NGOs since 2014, addresses migration issues, focusing on disaster risk management and climate resilience to minimize displacement. The RE2CLID project enhances resilience for displacement-affected communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role supports IOM's displacement data tracking and management activities, crucial for informing policies on disaster risk reduction.
Job Purpose
The Senior DTM Associate provides essential technical support for IOM's displacement data tracking and management activities, particularly within the RE2CLID program in Malawi. This role is vital for improving the availability and reliability of data on climate-induced displacement. The collected and analyzed data will directly inform the formulation of policies and programs aimed at disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. By enhancing data systems and capacity, the position contributes to strengthening national systems for managing displacement and supporting vulnerable communities affected by climate change and environmental degradation.
Responsibilities
Support the design and coordination of data needs assessments to identify gaps in displacement data collection, processing, and management frameworks. Participate in developing and reviewing tools and methodologies for data collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination. Coordinate data collection activities, ensuring quality control and data confidentiality according to IOM principles. Assist in the recruitment, deployment, and training of enumerators. Liaise with government ministries, UN agencies, and local authorities to facilitate data collection and information sharing. Perform other assigned duties to support IOM's displacement tracking initiatives.
Work Experience
Experience is required in coordinating large-scale data collection or survey programs in humanitarian settings, including tool development, data supervision, and analysis. Proficiency with mobile data collection applications like ODK or KOBO is essential. Experience in training and supervising enumerators, working with multi-sectoral stakeholders, and information management is also needed. Knowledge of IOM DTM packages and experience with international organizations are advantageous.
