Job Purpose
The Programme Support Unit Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the Programme Support Unit's activities, ensuring alignment with IOM's country and regional strategies and the global Strategic Results Framework. This involves overseeing project conceptualization, proposal development, monitoring, and evaluation. The role also supports internal and external communication for IOM projects and programmes. By coordinating fundraising efforts, donor relations, and project management support, the Coordinator contributes to the effective implementation and successful outcomes of IOM's migration initiatives. This position plays a crucial role in strengthening the mission's strategic development, knowledge management, and external communication efforts, ensuring projects meet objectives and deadlines.
Responsibilities
The Programme Support Unit Coordinator will manage daily PSU activities, including staff supervision and guidance on reporting, proposal development, and M&E, adhering to IOM frameworks. Responsibilities include coordinating fundraising, mapping donors, and developing new projects in collaboration with various stakeholders. The role supports the Resource Management Unit with donor contract administration, including budgetary aspects and record-keeping. Substantive support will be provided to Heads of Units and Project Managers for information sharing and liaison with external partners. The Coordinator will prepare and review project funding submissions and agreements, and oversee the timely planning and implementation of Reporting and M&E workplans. Strategic development, knowledge creation, and strengthening project monitoring systems are key duties. Additionally, the role involves coordinating the development and dissemination of communications and reports, representing IOM in UN programmatic meetings, and managing information requests. Overseeing the mission's external communication strategy, including social media, and maintaining accurate project records are also essential functions.
Work Experience
Required experience includes managing Programme units, establishing working relations with government counterparts and UN agencies, and expertise in project development, management, and reporting. Experience in humanitarian crises, complex project implementation, budget drafting, research, report writing, and liaison with international agencies is necessary. Proficiency in reporting, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, and donor relations is also essential. Previous experience in a developing country or post-conflict context is beneficial.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming. Fluency in English (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
