This role is situated within the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Lahore, Pakistan, reporting to senior health management.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for the effective operation of the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Lahore, Pakistan. The Migration Health Nurse will perform a wide range of nursing activities essential for fulfilling the technical requirements of resettlement countries. This includes conducting medical examinations, managing laboratory tests, administering vaccinations, and providing TB management and treatment referrals. The position also involves educating migrants on health assessment processes and treatments, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining medical supplies. The nurse will play a key role in pre-departure procedures, potential medical escort duties, and collaborating with various partners to facilitate migrant health services and information sharing.
Responsibilities
Perform daily nursing activities within the MHAC, including medical examinations (vital signs, vision checks), sample collection (blood, urine, sputum), imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, and treatment referrals. Provide clear information and explanations to migrants regarding the health assessment process and treatments. Ensure accurate identification and follow-up through comprehensive history taking, biodata collection, and ID verification. Adhere to Health Assessment Programme checklists and SOPs, maintaining universal precautions. Manage and monitor MHAC pharmacy stock and medical kits. Offer pre and post-counselling on TB and HIV. Prepare administrative reports and support mobile missions. Assist with pre-departure preparations and perform medical escort duties when required. Maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, external health providers, panel physicians, embassies, and other organizations. Collect and share statistical information as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience is required for Bachelor's degree holders, and five years for Diploma holders. Essential skills include excellent technical nursing abilities, particularly in phlebotomy. Experience in TB management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing, or public health is advantageous. Proficiency in clinical nursing, patient safety, and infection control is necessary. Computer literacy with MS Office suite is also required.
