Organizational Context
The Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM) is a small-grants programme in northern Ghana, Benin, and Togo, funded by Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. Implemented by IOM, it aims to strengthen local state presence and reduce instability risks in areas threatened by violent extremist expansion from the Sahel.
Job Purpose
The Driver will operate IOM office vehicles, ensuring their roadworthiness and proper maintenance. This role is crucial for facilitating the operational activities of the Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM) programme in northern Ghana. The Driver will support the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and goods, contributing to the programme's objective of strengthening local state presence and promoting stability in a region facing security challenges.
Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for operating assigned IOM vehicles, ensuring daily maintenance and roadworthiness, including checks on tires, brakes, and oil. They will arrange for minor repairs, keep vehicles clean, and ensure regular servicing. Responsibilities include maintaining records of spare parts, conducting monthly inventory, and preparing daily log sheets and monthly reports on mileage and fuel consumption. The Driver must ensure vehicles are used only for authorized business, maintain confidentiality, and adhere strictly to security regulations. They will also assist with airport pickups, mail and document delivery, and potentially simple clerical duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes knowledge of driving rules and regulations, experience driving various makes and models of vehicles, and familiarity with radio, email, and telephone applications.
