The Media and Communication Assistant role supports IOM Denmark's Public Information activities, reporting to the Chief of Mission and Senior Media and Communications Associate.
Job Purpose
The Media & Communication Assistant provides crucial administrative and communication support to IOM Denmark's Media and Communication Unit (MCU). This role is integral to the successful implementation of Public Information activities, enhancing IOM's visibility and outreach. By assisting with content creation, social media management, and event organization, the incumbent contributes to promoting IOM's mission and projects. The position supports the MCU in disseminating information about IOM's work, ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders and the public, and upholding IOM's commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace.
Responsibilities
Assist the Media and Communication Unit (MCU) in implementing communication activities according to IOM guidelines. Maintain and update IOM Denmark’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and prepare content calendars. Compile data on communication activities' performance and prepare basic reports. Provide administrative support for information materials and campaigns, including formatting and disseminating digital and print materials. Assist in drafting, translating, formatting, and uploading website content in English and Danish. Support the organization of public information activities to enhance project visibility. Prepare and post social media content, including videos and graphics. Compile background information and briefing notes for communication materials. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Requires good organizational and communication skills, with experience in drafting, writing, and reporting. Experience in web and social media content creation, basic content support, and using basic video editing and graphic content tools is necessary.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Office 365. Familiarity with graphic and communication tools (e.g., Adobe, Canva, CapCut, Mailchimp). Experience in social media content support, video editing, and preparing communication materials. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team, manage time efficiently, and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Basic knowledge of migration dynamics in the Nordics and communication practices in international organizations is desirable.
