Job Purpose
The Private Sector and Civil Society Engagement Consultant will provide essential technical and operational support for the African Development Bank-funded Sudan Integrated Social Sector Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (SISSIRP). This role is crucial for implementing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) activities, focusing on strengthening private sector and civil society partnerships. The consultant will contribute to improving labour market linkages and job placement for TVET graduates, ensuring alignment with IOM's operational standards and contributing to the project's goal of restoring essential services and enhancing community resilience across four Sudanese states.
Responsibilities
Key duties include fostering partnerships with private sector employers and civil society organizations to enhance TVET and employment outcomes, particularly for vulnerable groups. The consultant will support the planning and execution of Labour Market Assessments, negotiate and manage agreements with partners, and contribute to the design and rollout of job placement and internship programs. Responsibilities also involve organizing and delivering TVET trainings, ensuring conflict-sensitive and inclusive implementation, and supporting the adaptation of curricula. Additionally, the role entails maintaining an employment information system, managing records, preparing administrative and procurement documents, liaising with local authorities, and undertaking field travel for monitoring and engagement.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working with non-governmental, international governmental, or UN organizations. Specific experience in TVET, skills development, employment programming, private sector engagement, or labor market activities is essential, alongside strong report writing skills. Experience in administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, and knowledge of public-private partnerships are also valuable.
Skills
The role requires proactive and independent work ethic, strong interpersonal, administrative, and time management skills. Essential competencies include analytical and planning abilities, proficiency in report writing, computer literacy (word processors, spreadsheets, databases), and data analysis. The ability to maintain integrity and work effectively as a team player is also crucial.
