Job Purpose
The Programme Officer (Livelihoods) will support the implementation of a regional project in South Sudan aimed at addressing the Sudan crisis through livelihood enhancement, durable solutions, social cohesion, and early recovery. Working under the supervision of the Programmes Coordinator, the role involves executing project activities in designated areas, fostering relationships with local stakeholders, and ensuring the achievement of project objectives. The position is crucial for promoting sustainability and recovery, particularly for women and youth impacted by displacement, and contributing to the country's response to the Sudanese Displacement Situation.
Responsibilities
The Programme Officer (Livelihoods) will implement livelihood activities according to IOM policies and tools, conducting assessments such as labor market and value chain analyses. Responsibilities include identifying and selecting beneficiaries in coordination with relevant teams, establishing partnerships with local authorities and actors, and providing support through orientation, training, and business plan development. The role involves regular travel to project sites for monitoring, ensuring adherence to guidelines, and making necessary adjustments to service delivery. Additionally, the officer will support MEAL teams with feedback surveys, develop and maintain internal controls, contribute to project reporting and data management, and participate in meetings and events related to the project.
Work Experience
Requires at least six years of professional experience in livelihoods research, integrated programming, or displacement-related projects, preferably in fragile or conflict-affected settings. Demonstrated experience in conducting research and analysis on livelihoods, producing action-oriented recommendations, and working with international organizations or NGOs in recovery contexts is essential.
Skills
Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills for multicultural environments. Ability to coordinate with senior representatives and local actors. Proficient in community engagement, research methods (quantitative/qualitative), and data analysis software. Experience in developing training materials and facilitating workshops. Fluency in English is required.
