IOM operates five Accommodation Centers for Unaccompanied Minors in Greece, providing essential services including accommodation, food, hygiene, legal and psychosocial support. This role supports the 24/7 operation of these shelters within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027, under the supervision of the Project and Shelter Coordinators.
Job Purpose
The Cleaner will provide essential cleaning services for the assigned Accommodation Center for Unaccompanied Minors. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for the children and staff, contributing to the overall well-being and operational efficiency of the shelter. By ensuring high standards of cleanliness, the position directly supports the IOM's mission to provide humane and orderly migration services and protect vulnerable individuals. The role is part of a team ensuring the 24/7 operation of the shelter, contributing to the project's success within the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive cleaning duties for both indoor and outdoor areas of the Accommodation Center, adhering strictly to the established cleaning schedule and all relevant hygiene regulations. This includes maintaining cleanliness in common areas, individual rooms, sanitation facilities, and any designated outdoor spaces. Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are used efficiently and stored appropriately. Promptly report any maintenance or repair needs identified during cleaning activities to the supervisor. Additionally, undertake any other related tasks or duties as may be assigned by the Shelter Coordinator or Project Coordinator to support the smooth operation of the facility.
Work Experience
Relevant professional experience is desirable for this role. Specific years of experience are not mandated, but practical experience in cleaning or a related field is considered an advantage.
Skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to work under difficult conditions, willingness to work flexible shifts including holidays and weekends. A valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is an advantage.
