This role supports PSEAH and AAP activities at the country level, coordinating with various IOM units and inter-agency networks.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for advancing IOM's commitment to preventing and responding to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH) and ensuring Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP). It directly contributes to the organization's strategy, which focuses on leadership, accountability, capacity development, victim assistance, and coordination. By implementing and mainstreaming AAP throughout crisis-related work, the role ensures quality programming that meets beneficiary needs and upholds IOM's zero-tolerance policy on misconduct. The incumbent will provide technical oversight and support for PSEAH and AAP initiatives at the country level, acting as a key member of relevant inter-agency networks and ensuring IOM's operational realities are aligned with global standards and commitments.
Responsibilities
The role involves coordinating PSEAH and AAP efforts by supporting work plan development, integrating these principles into country strategies and project proposals, and liaising with donors. It requires active participation in inter-agency networks to develop collective work plans and strategies, and contributing to reporting on PSEAH indicators and good practices. Prevention duties include supporting risk assessments, ensuring mitigation measures are embedded in programming, assessing partner capacities, and developing/delivering training plans for personnel and partners. Awareness-raising activities, including developing communication strategies and strengthening reporting channels, are also key. In response, the role entails maintaining feedback mechanisms, safely responding to disclosures, referring cases, coordinating victim assistance, and monitoring risks to ensure survivor safety and needs are met.
Work Experience
Experience is required in areas such as protection, sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), sexual harassment (SH), child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), accountability to affected populations (AAP), and gender mainstreaming within humanitarian affairs. Coordination experience within the UN system and with interagency partners, as well as experience in developing and facilitating trainings, proposal development, and creating standard operating procedures, is also necessary.
Skills
Key skills include the ability to work collaboratively across diverse sectors, strong written and oral communication for external liaison, independent work prioritization under pressure, and attention to detail.
