Job Purpose
The Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of IOM vehicles, ensuring their roadworthiness and proper maintenance. This role involves managing daily vehicle checks, arranging for minor repairs, and maintaining cleanliness. The Driver is expected to find the most direct and safe routes, ensure vehicles are used for official purposes only, and maintain accurate log sheets and monthly reports on mileage and fuel consumption. Confidentiality and security awareness are crucial, as the role may involve assisting with airport pickups and deliveries of official communications.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include driving assigned IOM vehicles and managing their day-to-day maintenance to ensure roadworthiness, including daily checks of tires, brakes, and engine oil. The Driver will arrange for minor repairs, keep vehicles clean, and ensure they undergo regular servicing. Maintaining an inventory of spare parts and conducting monthly stock checks is also required. The role involves identifying the safest and most direct routes, ensuring vehicle use is strictly for authorized business, and preparing daily log sheets and monthly reports on mileage and fuel consumption. Additionally, the Driver must maintain confidentiality, be aware of security threats, assist with airport pickups, and handle the collection and delivery of mail and documents.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of driving experience in a similar role, with knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Experience with various vehicle makes and models, basic vehicle repair skills, and familiarity with radio, email, and telephone applications are necessary. A good understanding of South Sudan is beneficial.
