Job Purpose
This role operates under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Associate and the overall supervision of the Head of Supply Chain. The primary purpose of the Expedited Driver position is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and goods. This involves managing assigned vehicles, maintaining their roadworthiness, and ensuring timely and secure delivery of items. The driver plays a crucial role in supporting IOM's operations by facilitating logistical movements, maintaining essential records, and contributing to the overall operational efficiency and security within the mission.
Responsibilities
The Expedited Driver is responsible for operating assigned IOM vehicles, ensuring their daily maintenance and roadworthiness through regular checks of critical components. This includes arranging for minor repairs and maintaining vehicle cleanliness. The driver must adhere to scheduled service intervals and manage an inventory of spare parts, conducting monthly checks. Responsibilities also include identifying the safest and most direct routes, ensuring vehicle use is strictly for authorized purposes, and meticulously preparing daily log sheets and monthly reports on mileage and fuel consumption. The role requires maintaining confidentiality, assessing and mitigating security threats, and assisting with airport meet-and-greets, including immigration and customs facilitation. Additionally, the driver will handle mail and document delivery, and may provide basic clerical support.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of driving experience in a similar role, with knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Experience driving various vehicle makes and models, along with skills in minor vehicle repairs, is necessary. Familiarity with radio, email, and telephone applications is beneficial. The role demands good communication and teamwork skills, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
