Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Poland seeks a Field Protection Assistant to support the Protection Unit in Kraków. This role focuses on implementing field-based protection activities within the Małopolska region, directly contributing to the well-being and access to services for vulnerable individuals and families.
Job Purpose
The Field Protection Assistant's primary purpose is to support the Protection Unit in Kraków by implementing essential field-based protection activities across the Małopolska region. This involves conducting needs assessments, identifying protection risks and service gaps, and facilitating access to assistance for vulnerable populations. The role also includes organizing and delivering information sessions, providing guidance and referrals, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of protection interventions. Regular reporting on activities, findings, and challenges to the Protection Coordinator is crucial for program monitoring and improvement.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments during field visits in the Małopolska region, ensuring identified individuals have access to necessary rights and services, and documenting findings for the protection team. Provide accurate information to migrants and refugees regarding services, and collaborate on creating relevant, culturally appropriate information materials and sessions. Plan and facilitate community meetings to educate beneficiaries on protection issues and available services, gathering feedback for improvement. Map available protection services and develop referral pathways, ensuring accurate and accessible information for the protection team. Coordinate with internal units and external partners to address beneficiary needs comprehensively and share relevant information. Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, and statistical tables on protection issues, maintaining thorough documentation of activities. Monitor and report on protection needs and trends, providing recommendations based on observations and data, and keeping protection trackers updated.
Work Experience
Three years of relevant experience in a humanitarian context in Poland is required. Experience with a Bachelor's degree in social work is also acceptable. Demonstrated knowledge of protection-related issues and frameworks, and understanding of the refugee and migrant context in Poland are necessary.
