Senior Programme Associate (midas)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Marshall Islands seeks a Senior Programme Associate to support its MIDAS and International Border Management activities. This role, based in Majuro and reporting to the Head of Sub-Office, provides crucial operational and administrative coordination. The position works closely with the Department of Immigration to ensure the effective implementation and daily use of border management systems and related procedures.
Job Purpose
The Senior Programme Associate (MIDAS / International Border Management) is responsible for providing day-to-day operational and administrative support for IOM's MIDAS and International Border Management initiatives in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. This involves coordinating with the Department of Immigration (DOI), organizing training sessions and workshops, and meticulously tracking project progress and activities. The role focuses on facilitating the practical rollout and ongoing use of the MIDAS system at Points of Entry, ensuring smooth coordination with DOI counterparts, managing project documentation, and gathering operational feedback. The primary objective is to ensure the effective implementation, monitoring, and documentation of border management activities, supporting the overall goals of the IOM mission in the region.
Responsibilities
The Senior Programme Associate will provide general program support by coordinating daily engagement with IOM staff and Department of Immigration (DOI) counterparts for MIDAS project activities. This includes organizing meetings, trainings, and workshops, and following up on action points. The role involves maintaining project files, trackers, and documentation, monitoring implementation progress, and flagging any delays or issues. Additionally, the Associate will draft inputs for donor and internal reports. In terms of MIDAS and Border Management Operations, the incumbent will coordinate day-to-day implementation support at Points of Entry, assist with refresher trainings and operational workshops, and gather/consolidate operational feedback from DOI officers. The role also entails monitoring the implementation of agreed procedures and contributing to the identification of operational issues. For Training, Workshops, and Validation, the Associate will organize logistics, prepare necessary documents such as attendance sheets and agendas, and document workshop outcomes and follow-up requirements.
Work Experience
Required experience includes supporting project or program implementation in areas such as immigration, border management, or governance, and organizing trainings, workshops, or stakeholder events. Experience working with government counterparts is advantageous. Previous experience with IOM, a UN agency, or another international organization is desirable.
