The International Organization for Migration (IOM) MSEC office in Natitingou requires a Driver (G2) to ensure the safe, regular, and compliant execution of operational travel. Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this Driver (G2) role is to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the IOM MSEC office operations in Natitingou. The driver will guarantee that all program-related travel is conducted safely, regularly, and in full compliance with administrative requirements. This position is crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of field interventions by facilitating staff mobility and enabling close monitoring of activities across various project locations. By maintaining this permanent role, the organization strengthens its institutional capabilities, ensures consistent adherence to IOM driving protocols, and reduces operational risks associated with staff turnover and knowledge loss, thereby contributing to the overall efficient and compliant implementation of MSEC programs.
Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for operating assigned IOM vehicles safely and efficiently. Daily vehicle maintenance, including checks of tires, brakes, oil, and other essential components, is required to ensure optimal functionality. The role involves organizing minor repairs, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and adhering to scheduled maintenance intervals. Accurate record-keeping of vehicle logs, spare parts inventory, and monthly reports on mileage and fuel consumption is essential. The driver must identify the safest and most direct routes, ensure vehicles are used solely for official purposes, and maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion. Responsibilities also include providing secure transportation, facilitating airport arrivals, and managing the collection and distribution of mail and documents, while strictly adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
Work Experience
Required experience includes knowledge of driving rules and regulations, proficiency in operating various vehicle types, familiarity with radio, email, and telephone systems, and basic vehicle repair skills. Experience in a similar role is desirable.
