Responsibilities
The Senior Finance Associate is responsible for providing procedural guidance and training to finance support staff. Key duties include managing financial resources by monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, and funds in accordance with IOM regulations. The role involves offering specialized advice on financial and administrative matters to Project Managers and office leadership. A significant responsibility is assisting in the preparation and revision of annual budgets, including estimating costs for staff, operations, and contracts. The associate will monitor compliance with financial policies, consolidate data into financial statements, and track expenditures against authorized levels. Responsibilities also include assisting with bank and vendor reconciliations, managing payroll, verifying disbursements, responding to audit queries, and preparing various financial reports as required.
Work Experience
Required experience includes proficiency in Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPs), Word, PowerPoint, Oracle, and Outlook. Prior experience with SAP/Oracle is advantageous. Knowledge of financial accounting principles, budget preparation, vendor reconciliation, and bank account reconciliation is essential. Experience in international humanitarian organizations or governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is also beneficial.
