Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Movement Operations Associate for Field Support. This role operates within the Field Support and Data Processing Pillar, contributing to various stages of humanitarian initiatives such as refugee resettlement, relocation, and emergency operations. The position involves beneficiary-facing activities and coordination with internal units, external agencies, and service providers to ensure safe and appropriate movement of individuals.
Job Purpose
The Movement Operations Associate, Field Support plays a crucial role in facilitating safe and efficient movement operations for beneficiaries. This involves direct engagement with individuals undergoing resettlement, relocation, humanitarian admissions, family reunification, and voluntary repatriation. The role requires coordinating field support activities, ensuring beneficiaries receive necessary assistance, including food and essential items, and managing transportation logistics. A key aspect is providing specialized support to vulnerable individuals, including those with special needs, and assisting with pre-departure formalities like document processing. The associate also supports selection missions and may provide interpretation services, contributing to the overall integrity and effectiveness of IOM's humanitarian efforts.
Responsibilities
The Movement Operations Associate will undertake beneficiary-facing activities within IOM's movement operations, supporting various humanitarian initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating field support with relevant units and agencies to ensure safe and appropriate beneficiary movements, and potentially guiding teams of Movement Operations Assistants. The role involves coordinating transportation for beneficiaries, ensuring their safety, security, and comfort, and assisting with the provision of essential items. Special attention will be given to individuals with special needs and sensitive cases, adhering to IOM policies. The associate will also assist with pre-departure formalities, process travel documents, and update relevant data systems. Additionally, support for selection missions, interpretation services, and visa applicant assistance may be required, alongside duty travel for meetings and training.
Work Experience
Prior experience in Movement Operations, transportation, or program management is required. Experience in resettlement programs, communicating with beneficiaries, and handling sensitive information is beneficial. Familiarity with Movement Operations-related databases and systems, as well as experience guiding junior staff, are advantageous. Airport experience is a plus.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, organizational abilities, self-motivation, objective-driven approach, initiative, and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
