Senior Protection Associate - Integration
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a leading UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. It works with governments and partners to save lives, protect people on the move, and facilitate regular migration pathways. This Senior Protection Associate role sits within the Integration Unit, reporting to the Head of the Unit and overall to the Chief of Mission, supporting program activities for Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) in Ireland.
Job Purpose
The Senior Protection Associate is responsible for supporting program activities for Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) in Ireland. This role involves directly supervising a team of Caseworkers and Project Associates to deliver two key workstreams focused on protection-related activities and transition assistance for BOTPs. The position will also collaborate with other workstreams to ensure alignment and synergy, contributing to the overall mission of promoting humane and orderly migration. The role is crucial in ensuring effective program delivery, providing essential support and guidance to beneficiaries, and contributing to the IOM's mandate in Ireland.
Responsibilities
Supervise and train Caseworkers in delivering individualized casework, including vulnerability and needs assessments, and providing onward support for BOTPs in emergency accommodation. Oversee Project Associates supporting concurrent workstreams, ensuring coordination and alignment of project activities and outcomes. Coordinate the effective implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide technical support. Build the capacity of team members to implement activities efficiently and effectively. Manage day-to-day activities, support smooth operations, liaise with donors and stakeholders, and coordinate logistical and administrative support. Assist in drafting processes and procedures for data accuracy in IOM platforms and contribute to project reporting. Maintain confidentiality of project matters and support efforts to mitigate fraud and monitor data integrity. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Proven experience in a similar role, particularly with protection-related casework support. Experience supervising a team is required. Previous work experience in international, governmental, or non-governmental organizations is necessary. Project support and coordination experience is considered an advantage.
Skills
Strong communication and team coordination skills. Organizational ability to support demanding logistical arrangements. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills with attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and IT applications.
