Job Purpose
The Regional Liaison Focal Point's primary purpose is to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the Helios+ project within the Thessaly Region. This involves fostering robust communication and coordination among internal teams and with national and local authorities, as well as other experienced partners. The role is instrumental in building and maintaining critical relationships with regional stakeholders, ensuring external actors are aligned with project goals, and promoting local synergies with other integration programs, whether implemented by IOM or other humanitarian organizations. By actively representing IOM and the project in regional coordination forums, the Focal Point advocates for project achievements and objectives. Furthermore, the role contributes significantly by identifying challenges and opportunities for the social integration of beneficiaries, supporting the development and implementation of regional policies that promote the integration of third-country nationals, and maintaining vital communication channels to disseminate information and mainstream services. This ultimately facilitates comprehensive support for beneficiaries of international and temporary protection, aiding their integration into Greek society through employability, language, vocational training, and social cohesion initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Regional Liaison Focal Point will primarily support robust communication and coordination efforts across the Thessaly Region, ensuring seamless information flow and operational alignment. A key responsibility involves assisting senior management in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with regional stakeholders, while also coordinating effectively with external actors operating at the regional level to facilitate the smooth implementation of project activities. The role is crucial in promoting and establishing local synergies with other integration programs, whether implemented by IOM or other humanitarian organizations, thereby ensuring comprehensive and complementary service provision at the regional level. The incumbent will represent IOM and the Helios+ project in various regional coordination forums and relevant events, actively presenting project achievements and advocating for its objectives, in alignment with IOM's broader priorities. Furthermore, the Focal Point will proactively identify emerging challenges and opportunities pertinent to the social integration of project beneficiaries, providing valuable insights to support project advocacy initiatives. This position also entails supporting the Region in the development and implementation of regional policies and measures specifically designed to promote the integration of third-country nationals. Additional duties include facilitating the operation of regional working groups and coordination schemes, maintaining consistent communication with regional authorities to disseminate information about project services and activities, and actively promoting access to and mainstreaming of these services. Ensuring strong working relationships with local chambers and regional associations is also a vital component of this role.
Work Experience
Candidates must have previous work experience in a similar role. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is preferred.
Skills
Required skills include an adequate combination of knowledge, education, training, and experience to perform essential functions. Computer literacy in standard software applications is necessary. Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles are essential. A valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience is considered an advantage.
