Job Purpose
This role supports the IOM Health Assessment Programme by processing screening X-rays for refugees and immigrants. The incumbent operates under the direct supervision of the Senior Migration Health Nurse, with technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Center and administrative oversight from the Chief of Mission. The primary function involves accurately capturing chest X-ray images according to IOM and international standards, ensuring proper patient preparation, equipment handling, and data integrity. The position contributes to the overall quality and efficiency of the radiology unit, ensuring timely and accurate diagnostic information for migration health assessments.
Responsibilities
Key duties include taking high-quality chest X-ray images adhering to IOM and international standards, explaining procedures to applicants, and preparing equipment. The role involves applying proper radiographic techniques and radiation protection measures for all individuals, including pregnant women. Responsibilities also encompass processing digital images, reviewing quality, and reporting urgent findings to radiologists. The incumbent will contribute to quality assurance, radiation safety, and equipment maintenance, ensuring optimal workflow and timely delivery of X-ray images and reports. This includes preparing worklists, checking identities, uploading images to e-Medical, and communicating with radiologists and Teleradiology Centers for image interpretation.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working in radiography, with a specific focus on Chest X-Ray and knowledge of digital machines. An up-to-date professional license or board certificate is necessary. Holding a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) certification is considered a strong advantage.
Skills
Essential skills include good communication and computer proficiency. Knowledge and experience with radiology information systems and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) are advantageous. Experience in screening chest X-rays and Health Assessment Programs is also considered a plus.
