Senior Project Associate- Technical (shelter/NFI)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cox's Bazar is implementing a Shelter/NFI program. This role, under the direct supervision of the Project Officer and overall supervision of the Programme Manager, will support the program unit in its implementation activities, coordinating with relevant internal units.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate - Technical (Shelter/NFI) will provide crucial assistance to the Shelter/NFI Project Officer and the broader program unit in Cox's Bazar for the effective implementation of shelter and non-food item initiatives. This involves supporting all phases of project activities, from initial assessments and design to procurement, construction monitoring, and reporting. The role contributes to ensuring the successful delivery of shelter solutions and essential non-food items to beneficiaries, requiring technical expertise, coordination with various stakeholders, and adherence to project objectives and standards. The incumbent will also play a role in capacity building for junior staff and maintaining essential project documentation.
Responsibilities
Assist the Project Officer in implementing Shelter/NFI construction activities, including field assessments, technical drawing preparation, Bill of Quantities (BoQ) creation, procurement support, material stock management, and construction monitoring. Contribute to detailed design preparation using CAD software and conduct regular field visits to supervise civil works, resolve issues, and report on progress. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Shelter/NFI staff, fostering their technical skill development. Ensure adequate maintenance of project records, including assessment data, stock records, and progress reports. Represent the IOM Shelter/NFI Programme in field coordination meetings, liaising with community representatives, partners, and authorities. Contribute to periodic project reports covering progress, financial status, quality control, and technical aspects. Assist in tender evaluations and ensure internal coordination with other IOM units for seamless program implementation. Stay updated on construction technologies and sustainable design practices, conducting quality control checks and prioritizing safety in designs.
Work Experience
Required experience includes construction design, using structural design and analysis software, and CAD drafting. Experience in shelter design analysis, design, and review is also essential. Experience with international organizations, NGOs, camp rehabilitation, site development, and regional work is advantageous.
