Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, seeks a Senior Project Associate - Architect. This role supports the Shelter/NFI Programme Manager in implementing vital humanitarian assistance programs, contributing to the design and execution of shelter and non-food item initiatives within the region.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate - Architect will provide crucial support to the Shelter/NFI Programme Manager in Cox's Bazar for the effective implementation of IOM's humanitarian programs. This involves assisting in the development of shelter designs, technical drawings, and 3D models using CAD and other software. The role contributes to ensuring that all architectural designs comply with relevant codes and regulations, while also supporting research into materials and construction techniques. The associate will play a key part in project management, quality control, and representing IOM in coordination meetings, ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Assist the Shelter/NFI Programme Manager in developing shelter sketch designs, technical drawings, and 3D models using CAD and 3D modeling software. Contribute to architectural concepts, schematic designs, and design development, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations. Conduct research on materials and construction techniques to inform design decisions. Prepare maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Support project management tasks, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and quality requirements. Contribute to quality control checks for design and construction documents. Stay updated on industry trends and integrate sustainable design practices. Represent IOM in coordination meetings and maintain relationships with partners. Assist in preparing project reports and documentation for donors. Address and resolve project-related issues, and mentor junior team members.
Work Experience
Required experience includes proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software, and construction design. Experience with GIS software and mapping is advantageous. Experience with international organizations/NGOs, shelter construction, site planning, regional experience, and data analysis using spreadsheets is also beneficial.
