Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Senior Field Operations Associate - Technical (Shelter/NFI) plays a crucial role in the successful execution of IOM's shelter construction projects in Cox's Bazar. This position involves providing direct technical assistance, supervising field operations, and ensuring that all construction activities adhere to established Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical drawings, and quality standards. The role contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Shelter/NFI program by ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of essential infrastructure, coordinating with various stakeholders, and maintaining accurate project documentation. The associate will also be responsible for training and guiding junior staff, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring safety and sustainability in all project aspects.
Responsibilities
Assist the Shelter/NFI Project Officer in implementing shelter construction projects, ensuring adherence to BOQs, technical drawings, and specifications, and providing regular status updates. Offer technical advice and coordination support on Shelter/NFI operations across camps as directed. Train and guide Field Operation Assistants in work implementation, team management, and coordination. Aid in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and contribute to detailed designs using CAD software. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction quality and standards, verifying compliance with project requirements and ensuring technical advice is mainstreamed. Maintain adequate project records, including field assessment data, stock records, training attendance, and progress reports. Resolve construction-related issues with vendors and contractors, review their plans, track progress, and monitor materials and beneficiary engagement. Represent the IOM Shelter/NFI Programme in field coordination meetings and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Ensure internal coordination with other IOM units for seamless program implementation. Stay updated on construction technologies and sustainable design practices, fostering a collaborative work environment and prioritizing safety in designs and processes.
Work Experience
Required experience includes construction design, using structural design and analysis software, and CAD drafting. Experience in shelter design analysis, design, and review is also essential. Experience with international organizations/NGOs, camp rehabilitation, site development, working within the region, and using spreadsheets for data analysis are considered advantageous.
