Job Purpose
The Senior Project Assistant (Protection) role is crucial for supporting the effective implementation of protection project activities within IOM Cambodia. This position directly contributes to IOM's mandate of promoting humane migration by ensuring the financial, administrative, and technical aspects of protection, legal, MHPSS, and IBG activities are managed in compliance with organizational policies, standards, and donor requirements. The role involves close coordination with supervisors, implementing partners, and stakeholders to deliver project objectives, track progress, and respond to identified protection trends, ultimately benefiting vulnerable migrants and ensuring the integrity of IOM's protection programs.
Responsibilities
Support the Programme Officer (Protection) in planning and implementing protection, legal, MHPSS, and IBG activities, ensuring compliance with IOM policies, standards, and donor requirements. Coordinate implementing partner agreements, conduct quality monitoring, and provide on-the-job capacity building. Track progress against indicators and ensure data capture for reporting. Identify and report protection trends in coordination with the supervisor. Support operational aspects, including logistics and procurement. Map service providers to update referral pathways. Maintain relationships with community leaders, local government, and service providers. Draft progress reports and facilitate information exchange. Organize training sessions on migrant protection topics. Support case management assistance for vulnerable migrants and victims of trafficking. Represent IOM in technical working groups and inter-agency coordination platforms.
Work Experience
Requires at least four years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a protection role. Experience in coordinating partner agreements, activity monitoring, capacity building, and case management is preferred. Experience working with governmental, non-governmental institutions, and UN agencies is also desirable. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, and safety of beneficiaries is essential.
Skills
Excellent communication and report writing skills. Ability to work methodically, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision. Awareness of victim of trafficking/migration/protection issues. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team. Excellent computer and database skills.
