Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related agency, promotes humane and orderly migration. The Regional Support Office (RSO) of the Bali Process, established in 2012, facilitates cooperation on migration management in the Asia and Pacific region. This role contributes to the RSO, which is co-managed by Australia and Indonesia.
Job Purpose
The Programme Officer (Strategic Communications and Engagement) will support the Regional Support Office (RSO) of the Bali Process in its communication, engagement, and advocacy efforts. This role is crucial for implementing the RSO's Communications and Engagement Strategy, ensuring it aligns with the RSO's strategic objectives and operational plans. The position involves developing and managing digital content, maintaining communication platforms, and coordinating reporting to track performance and impact. The officer will also play a key role in supporting major events and fostering relationships with stakeholders to enhance the RSO's visibility and effectiveness in addressing irregular migration and related transnational crime in the Asia and Pacific region.
Responsibilities
The Programme Officer will support the RSO Communications and Engagement Strategy, developing and managing digital content for platforms like the website and social media, and ensuring content quality and accuracy. Responsibilities include coordinating newsletters and editorial reports, tracking performance metrics, and supporting flagship events like the Constructive Dialogue. The role involves collaborating with internal teams to align communication efforts with partnership and funding strategies, and supporting initiatives like the RSO Alumni Network. Additionally, the officer will manage RSO branding, represent the RSO in various forums, contribute to reports, and support strategic planning and internal communications. This includes maintaining publications, exploring innovative communication formats, building relationships with member states and media, and assisting in developing RSO policies and procedures.
Work Experience
Requires at least three years of relevant professional experience, including demonstrated experience in communications and engagement, digital product development, strategy, and management. Experience in project management, cross-cultural engagement, and drafting/reviewing communication materials for intergovernmental audiences is essential. The role also requires the ability to work under tight deadlines, manage diverse teams, and communicate effectively in oral and written English.
