This role supports the 'Helios+' project in Central Greece, aiming to integrate third-country nationals into the labor market through various support activities.
Job Purpose
The Interpreter (Arabic) will support the implementation of project activities within the 'Helios+' project in Central Greece. This project focuses on the integration of beneficiaries of international and temporary protection into Greek society. The role involves providing essential interpretation and translation services to facilitate employability support, language courses, vocational training, and social cohesion activities. The interpreter will act as a crucial link between beneficiaries and project staff, ensuring effective communication and understanding throughout the project's duration, contributing directly to the successful integration of vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
Key duties include establishing initial contact with beneficiaries, building trust, and providing interpretation and cultural mediation. The role involves responding to helpline calls, identifying emerging issues, reporting them to the Project Assistant, and maintaining a helpline tracker. Developing and maintaining positive relationships with beneficiaries, stakeholders, and other humanitarian actors is essential for effective project implementation and coordination. The interpreter will identify barriers to service access for beneficiaries and translate documents and information materials. Additionally, the position requires assisting in mediation activities objectively and impartially, providing general support to other project staff during activities, and performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Previous work experience in a similar interpreter role is required. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is preferred. This experience should demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and mediate in diverse settings.
Skills
Proficiency in Arabic (written and oral) is required. Fluency in English or Greek (oral and written) is also necessary. Computer literacy in standard software applications is expected. Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles are essential.
