Job Purpose
The Project Associate-Livelihoods contributes to the implementation of IOM's livelihood projects in South Sudan, specifically focusing on a project aimed at catalyzing durable solutions in Rubkona and Yei River County. This involves supporting displaced, returning, and host communities to promote sustainability and recovery. The role requires active participation in project activities, maintaining relationships with local stakeholders, and ensuring the achievement of project objectives under the supervision of the Programmes Coordinator and in coordination with other relevant staff. The position is crucial for the successful delivery of livelihood assistance and fostering early recovery in the designated areas.
Responsibilities
Implement livelihood activities according to IOM policies and procedures. Conduct livelihood assessments, including market, value chain, and supply chain mapping. Assist in identifying and selecting beneficiaries for livelihood assistance. Forge partnerships with local authorities and organizations to implement projects. Facilitate orientation, training, and business plan development for beneficiaries. Monitor project sites and beneficiaries to ensure adherence to guidelines and recommend improvements. Support MEAL teams with feedback surveys. Develop and maintain internal controls and compliance processes. Report on project activities and manage beneficiary data. Participate in project-related meetings, coordination events, and donor visits. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience in social projects or community stabilization is required. Experience with a gender focus and working for an international organization is considered an advantage.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of the local context (Malakal mentioned, though role is in Bentiu). Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Expertise in using data collection tools and applications. Excellent command of English and Arabic. Knowledge of local languages in Bentiu is an advantage.
