Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency, promotes humane and orderly migration. Since 2022, IOM, in partnership with the EU and the Malian government, implements a program for migrant protection, return, and reintegration in Mali. This role supports reintegration activities in Kayes and surrounding regions, contributing to migrant assistance and migration governance.
Job Purpose
The Assistant for Reintegration role is crucial for the successful implementation of the IOM's migrant protection, return, and reintegration program in Mali, specifically within the Kayes region. This position directly supports the reintegration of migrants by assisting in the delivery of essential services, including orientation, reintegration support, and data collection. The role contributes to strengthening migration governance by ensuring reliable data on migration dynamics and enhancing the capacities of structures involved in migration management. By providing direct assistance and follow-up to beneficiaries, the Assistant ensures their successful reintegration into their home communities, aligning with IOM's mandate to promote orderly migration for the benefit of all.
Responsibilities
The Assistant for Reintegration will operationalize reintegration activities, including orientation, sensitization, and data collection for returning migrants, coordinating with internal units and external partners. This involves assessing migrants' protection needs, facilitating inter-team collaboration to address these needs, and referring individuals to specialized protection services when necessary. The role includes developing reintegration plans and procurement requests for reintegration kits. Responsibilities also encompass receiving and distributing reintegration equipment, promptly alerting supervisors to any challenges, and meticulously collecting and updating beneficiary data daily in the Mimosa database. The Assistant will track beneficiaries' reintegration progress, ensure compliance with IOM procedures for service delivery and cash-based interventions, and provide interpretation/translation services as needed.
Work Experience
Prior experience in humanitarian organizations, international institutions, or governmental bodies within a multicultural setting is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Previous experience with WAVE is a distinct advantage.
