Job Purpose
The Interpreter & Translator (Social Inclusion & Integration) role is crucial for facilitating communication and integration for individuals displaced from Ukraine. By providing accurate unofficial translation of documents and interpretation services in English, Ukrainian, and Hungarian, the position ensures that beneficiaries can access necessary services and information. This role contributes to IOM's mandate of promoting orderly migration and supporting vulnerable populations by ensuring effective communication, accurate documentation, data protection, and appropriate referrals to specialized support services, aligning with humanitarian principles.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing unofficial translations of personal, legal, and educational documents in English, Ukrainian, and Hungarian, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. The role also involves delivering interpretation services to facilitate communication between migrants and IOM staff or external providers, maintaining impartiality and cultural sensitivity. Maintaining continuous, accurate documentation of services provided and managing user data in compliance with data protection regulations are essential. Regular reporting to project management, liaising with project staff to share insights and address challenges, and referring vulnerable cases to appropriate professionals or organizations are also core duties. The position requires adherence to IOM's data management and confidentiality protocols.
Work Experience
Experience in interpretation is required. Experience in migrant assistance is desirable. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
