Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. It collaborates with governments and partners, providing services and advice to migrants. This role operates within the AVR Hub, reporting to the National Project Officer and coordinating with relevant technical units.

Job Purpose

The Caregiver role is integral to the operational functioning of the AVR Hub accommodation facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive environment for beneficiaries. This position contributes to the overall mission of IOM by facilitating humane and orderly migration processes. The Caregiver directly supports the well-being of migrants by assisting with daily living activities, maintaining accommodation standards, and facilitating communication. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring beneficiaries adhere to house rules and schedules, contributing to a stable and organized living situation during their migration journey.

Responsibilities

The Caregiver is responsible for maintaining the daily upkeep and cleanliness of AVR Hub accommodation facilities, including rooms and common areas, and reporting any maintenance issues. Duties include assisting with minor repairs, distributing essential supplies like hygiene kits, and ensuring beneficiaries follow accommodation schedules and house rules. The role also involves supporting food provision arrangements, communicating accommodation-related information to beneficiaries, and assisting with logistical arrangements for movements. The Caregiver must maintain regular communication with beneficiaries and relevant staff regarding operational needs and accommodation issues, and support daily activities such as laundry.

Work Experience

Familiarity with providing direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees is desirable. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is also beneficial. Previous experience working with vulnerable migrants or in semi-independent living units is considered an advantage.
