Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate will play a crucial role in implementing project activities aimed at facilitating safe migration from Central Asia to the UK. This involves supporting government hotlines, enhancing partner capacity for pre-departure orientation, organizing English language courses, and improving the financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills of returning migrants through educational programs and matching grants. The role contributes to IOM's mission of promoting orderly migration and ensuring migrants can harness its full potential, while fostering a professional and supportive workplace environment.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. The role involves compiling and analyzing project data, monitoring budget implementation, and acting as a focal point for administrative coordination. This includes drafting status reports, correspondence, and other documentation, as well as organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions. The Senior Project Associate will liaise with various stakeholders, monitor implementing partners, and contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures and concept papers. Guidance and supervision of other staff may also be required.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior work experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government/non-government institutions is considered an advantage.
Skills
Proficiency in project cycle management is required. The role demands in-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas relevant to the Organization. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under tight deadlines, are essential.
