Intern - Camp Coordination And Camp Management (cccm)
Organizational Context
Established in 1951, IOM is a UN-related organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. As a co-lead of the Global Shelter, Land and Site Coordination (SLSC) Cluster, IOM is spearheading a project to enhance the capacities of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and other humanitarian areas, fostering inclusive approaches in displacement contexts.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration and humanitarian work. The intern will support a global project focused on enhancing the inclusion of persons with disabilities within Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) efforts. The role involves assisting in the implementation of capacity-building activities for OPDs and CCCM partners, contributing to the development of training materials, and supporting logistical and administrative aspects of project activities. The intern will gain practical experience in international cooperation, humanitarian coordination, and disability inclusion within a UN system context, contributing to more inclusive humanitarian responses.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the development and review of guidance and training materials for disability inclusion in emergency preparedness and response. Responsibilities include liaising with country operations and organizations, monitoring project actions such as microgrants, and assisting with logistical and administrative arrangements for capacity-building activities, including regional trainings. The role also involves contributing to donor reports, developing communication materials, and fostering collaboration with key project partners like UN agencies, NGOs, and OPDs. The intern will stay informed on global best practices in disability inclusion in emergencies and share knowledge within the team.
Work Experience
Experience in liaising with representatives from various organizations and in coordination activities is required. Candidates should have less than two years of relevant working experience.
Skills
Proven interest in disability inclusion issues; understanding of protection principles and humanitarian action; knowledge of humanitarian principles and coordination structures; outstanding English drafting and communication skills; ability to plan and coordinate effectively.
