Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related organization established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. This consultancy supports a project in Ecuador funded by the Republic of Korea, aiming to enhance humanitarian assistance and protection services for migrants, refugees, and host communities in border areas. The role is based in Quito, supervised by the communications unit and the National Protection Unit.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the development of edu-communicational materials and graphic assets for a project focused on providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance to migrants, refugees, and host communities in Ecuador's border regions. The project, funded by the Republic of Korea, seeks to improve access to multisectoral assistance and protection services. The consultant will be instrumental in creating communication materials, including social media content, to strengthen access to rights, prevent gender-based violence, human trafficking, and child protection risks, and disseminate available routes and services. The role contributes directly to the project's communication strategy and the effective dissemination of vital information.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for producing a variety of communication materials. This includes creating 12 static graphic pieces (square and vertical formats for social media) covering access to rights, gender-based violence, human trafficking, and child protection. Additionally, the consultant will design flyers and posters on these key themes, coordinating with IOM Ecuador's communications team. Further deliverables include designing fact sheets on project implementation in Huaquillas, Tulcán, and Lago Agrio (three total), a project summary fact sheet, nine flyers on access to rights for each locality, and three carousel posts detailing project implementation or beneficiary testimonials. Performance will be evaluated based on 100% completion of these products.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience in community communication, advertising, graphic design, or general design is required. Prior experience working with vulnerable populations is essential, and previous experience with the United Nations system is desirable.
