Counter Trafficking Consultant
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain are implementing Phase II of the "Supporting Regional Centre of Excellence for Combatting Trafficking in Persons" project. This initiative aims to bolster national efforts and regional cooperation in combating trafficking in persons (TiP) within the Middle East and North Africa, aligning with international standards. The project focuses on expanding training materials and strengthening Bahrain's role as a regional leader in TiP.
Job Purpose
The consultant will significantly contribute to the training and capacity-building objectives of the "Supporting Regional Centre of Excellence for Combatting Trafficking in Persons in the Kingdom of Bahrain Phase II" project. This role is crucial for enhancing the technical capabilities of government officials and other stakeholders in combating trafficking in persons. By developing and delivering training modules, adapting existing curricula for broader audiences, and supporting the creation of e-learning platforms, the consultant will directly impact the identification, referral, and protection of victims of trafficking. The position is instrumental in strengthening Bahrain's capacity as a regional hub for counter-trafficking efforts, ensuring a more cohesive and effective approach to addressing TiP through improved service provision, referral systems, and policy frameworks.
Responsibilities
The consultant is responsible for developing three new training modules focused on counter-trafficking for law enforcement and private sector personnel, enhancing their ability to identify and assist victims. A key duty involves creating a training program for interpreters who directly interact with potential and actual victims of trafficking, utilizing existing core modules. The role also includes collaborating with IOM colleagues to develop e-learning modules on counter-trafficking in both English and Arabic, based on established core content. Furthermore, the consultant will deliver capacity-building and awareness-raising sessions to government officials and other relevant stakeholders using both new and existing training materials. The position also requires performing other assigned duties as necessary to support project objectives.
Work Experience
Proven expertise in migrant protection and counter-trafficking or addressing transnational organized crime is essential. The role requires demonstrated experience in capacity building and delivering training programs. Additionally, experience in developing capacity-building and training materials for various stakeholders is necessary.
