Job Purpose
The National CCCM Officer supports the coordination of IOM's CCCM activities in Malawi, working closely with government and partners. This involves providing technical guidance, monitoring service delivery, and identifying needs within camp settings. The role contributes to improving humanitarian services for vulnerable populations, particularly within the framework of the RE2CLID project. A key aspect is integrating human mobility dimensions into policies and strategies related to shelter and displacement management, ensuring effective and coordinated responses to climate-induced displacements and other emergencies.
Responsibilities
Support the coordination of CCCM activities within the Shelter/CCCM Cluster, offering technical guidance and participating in joint assessments. Monitor service provision and site conditions to identify and address unmet needs in compliance with standards. Engage displaced communities in identifying and prioritizing site needs and developing solutions. Conduct service mapping and site safety audits, liaising with partners to enhance safety and well-being. Facilitate community mobilization, training, and risk reduction works, ensuring minimum standards are met. Maintain equipment and facilities for CCCM activities and assist in compiling comprehensive reports.
Work Experience
Requires experience working with Internally Displaced Persons, refugees, or host communities, particularly on protection programming. Experience in conducting training, liaising with government authorities, and managing projects is essential. Familiarity with Malawi's regions and districts is advantageous. Availability for regular travel to affected communities and strong English communication skills are necessary; Chichewa fluency is desired.
